Her mouth is red from chewing the popular "koon-ya", also known as betel nut, keeps her awake during long working days, yet puts her at risk of tooth decay and oral cancer.

The need to work long days is common throughout the country as many people in Myanmar live a hand-to-mouth existance.

Our last interviews took place in a small town in

Our last interviews took place in a small town in the Shan State of Myanmar. We spoke with older Kayan women who shared their touching messages to the rest of the world.

Also, these small communities are being affected by #covid19 and as you can see in the photo the interviews were conducted with safety precautions of face masks, distance, and no touching.

Now the travel and filming aspect of Discover Humanity is on hold, however we have a wealth of content soon to share with you from all over the world.
